We were doing so good on fun ports but that was to change today. If you aren’t a Lord of the Rings fan and are willing to do a long drive to see the set where it was filmed there’s not much to see here. Yes, there was an option to join a boat and be dropped off in the ocean where wild dolphins swim – but that was nixed since we arrive too late. And with that, nothing to do here but walk the five block downtown.
It’s ironic, there was to be a stop after Tauranga but there was just nothing I saw which was interesting. As luck would have it, while trying to leave tonight, winds were so strong the ship couldn’t get off the dock. Captain came on the PA system to let us know the harbor master won’t let us safely leave until after 2am which means the Napier is being cancelled. Oh shucks, drat (read that with extreme sarcasm).
