Never heard of Warnemunde? That’s probably because it is just a place to pickup people to join the tour as well as getting gas. Here there is a great train station which gets folks from Berlin and Hamburg.
This morning was supposed to be an early tour departure in which I’d be seeing some classic spots in Lubeck and Schwerin. Slight problem with this plan, weather.

6am, curtain thrown open and the unmistakable piter patter of rain is falling. Something is extra though… the unmistakable sound of thunder cracking non-stop.

The red arrow is where I am. Storm is moving from the west to east. No way possible the ship would run tours, right?

MSC clearly doesn’t care about people aboard. In spite of the lightning and weather warnings, tour went. Hope no one was killed on that tour. Thunderstorm passes around midday, figured let’s do a quick around the town to see what it’s all about. Turns out it’s just a small fishing village.

Private fishing boats line the canal where you can buy lunch.

Most fisherman had little carts like this in front of their boat where you can see their catch.

A few had their own smoker running.

Further down the pier and you reach the beach and lighthouse.

|Beaches were are almost all private. You rent a cabana in order to lounge on the sand.

Maybe the most boring of all countries for food, Germany breads and fries everything. If you like bland food, this is your country.

The port is deep in Germany and folks don’t speak or write things in English. The above photo was the only one which showed pictures of items for sale. What do you do if you can’t communicate? Find the buffet option! Get what you think you might like, listen to the cashier speak German to you, wait for a total to ring up, tap your credit card and go. For all I know this meal was double a ‘regular’ meal would have been.

Pretty, giant sand castles as a view. Not bad.

And that’s the port. Good times huh?
Back aboard I did find one of the nicest bathrooms on the ship.

A little video of the sailaway so you can see how small but quaint this place is.
2-hours late due to time need for fuel. No stops for gas for the next two weeks.
