Day 9 - Back in Kiel

We’re back in Kiel to dropoff another 50% of the ship passengers.

New lesson learned today – if you’re going to be in a town twice on a trip, always do the excursion you’re wanting most, first. Today is where MSC being run by Italians is a problem. In Italy, problems just resolve themselves. Should you have an issue with the way it resolves itself, that’s your problem, just move on.

Due to their lack of proactive communications with their local tour operators no word got to the ship or corporate about a triathlon in Hamburg today,. The entire downtown is closed for the race. They sold excursions to see Hamburg to over 200 people but didn’t bother informing anyone of the cancellation until three days ago. We all could have flipped what we were doing the last time we were here. What is offered instead? Go visit Lubeck again (which is still closed as it’s still a Sunday visit).

So dumb. The more I travel the more I realize good customer service isn’t something that exists outside of the North American-led companies.

Leg one is done. The blue represents where we had been the last week.
