Day 7 - Valletta

One would think, a small island in the middle of the Med couldn’t possibly have much history. Oh but you’d be so wrong. Valletta is as ancient city and full of more stories than any country in the EU.

The below church is the second largest domed church on earth, second only to the Vatican.

This story is amazing

In the next photo you can see where the unexploded bomb broke through the roof.

Time for a drive up the hill.

Back down the hill to take in more of the old city. The combination of various architectural elements are impossible to ignore. As each country came and conquered the island they left their imprint on the buildings.

The view from the small hill above the ship is beautiful. You can see how hard it would have been to bring an invading navy into the port.

Tourism may not be a perfect thing for a city / country but it brings income in to help restore crumbling buildings and history.

Great example of how tourism is helping to rebuild walls like this

As the money continues flowing in more elements are being rebuild
