Day 10 - Noumea, New Caledonia

Welcome to the commercial / working port in Noumea. Yesterday as part of our group we met some ladies that had come from here. They were very open that there wasn’t much to do here and that it was roughly a 45 minute drive to get to the downtown. Seeing as it was in the low 90s with 75% humidity I opted to just lounge on the balcony and around the pool with most of the Ausies that were aboard.

Ok it’s not this bad but there was enough pollution to give me an idea what it must have been like in the 1920s	You’d almost think you were in Mazatlan
Would love to stay in an over-water bungalow hotel one day	Natives in front of native shipping containers

5pm. Time to begin the voyage home

Two dolphins were enjoying surfing the waves caused by our ship	If you have $300k you can purchase this atoll, add some white sand and you’re set with your own island
Eventually your atoll could look this good	Love how they managed to make a huge loop to kill time overnight to get us to this port today

Our good luck with weather kind of ran out last night as we were taking 60 knot winds and massive rain. The wind was so powerful that it made the boat shake like 6.0 earthquakes. The week before another Royal ship was taking waves on the bow that reached the 8th deck. After experiencing that storm I’m not sure a transatlantic voyage will be in my travel plans anytime soon.
